This meassage board is for the Horspath Hammer's riders. It provides up to date information regarding upcoming races and any other relevant informtion that you may need. Please ensure you check this page regularly and prior to any match.
Indoor Practice Sessions
Indoor practice begins on Sunday 21st November and will be held every other Sunday after that, until March 2010. The sessions will take place at Parks Sports Centre, Holton from 5pm to 7pm. The cost will be approx £4 per person ( the fee will depend on the turnout, so the more riders the less you will pay). We look forward to seeing you there on Sunday 21st November at 5pm.
Contact Us
It has been pointed out to the web editor that there are errors on the website, missing photos and profiles or out of date information. The web site is only as good as the information provided by riders, officials and supporters. If you spot something that is wrong or want to add anything to the website then please let us know. It is the clubs site so anything can be included (within reason!!). Please use the 'Contact Us' page to get things added or amended on the site. Please feel free to send any photos too. We try and get things added to the site within 2-3 working days. Thank you to everyone that has sent 'stuff' so far. Your help in keeping the website up to date is very much appreciated.
The editor would like to apologise for any errors on the site......Not being able to attend every match is a bit of a problem. Many thanks to Geoff Gamage for his regular match reports and Peter Payne for his photos.

A date for your diary......Sunday 13th September (added 6th July 2009) We will be organising a trip to East Newport for the British Team Championship semi and finals day Sunday 13th September. We won the Championship in 2007, without anyone there to support the team. This year we would love as many supporters as possible to cheers the team on. Details will follow closer to the date. You will see some great racing, so please put the date in your diary.
Working on the hottest day of the year! (added 1st July 2009)
Thank you to Tom Boaler for building a wall in the refreshment hut on the hottest day we have had so far! Tom's labourers were the two Martin's (Ray Martin and Martin Green)....definately not a 'diet coke' moment!!! Thanks lad for your hard work.
Changes to Practice Session Nights (added 22nd June 2009)
Junior practice now takes place on Thursday night instead of Wednesday. This is with immediate effect. Junior practice is 6.30pm to 7.30pm and Senior practice is 7.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday.
Monday and Tuesday night remain as before - Mon is Juniors from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and Tuesday is Seniors from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Message for Junior Riders - Re: Saturday 25th April (added 22nd April 2009)
Please can all Junior riders be at the Horspath track by 7.30am on Saturday 25th April (if they are taking part in the Junior League Round 2 at Exeter). The minibus will be leaving promptly at 7.15am and cannot wait for late arrivals (so make sure you get an early night the night before!). Please ensure you bring your gloves, helmets, and your Horspath shirt of you have one. You will also need £5 per person for minibus and racing fees, a packed lunch or money to buy snacks, plenty of drink and a jumper/coat for the evening in case it turns cold. We hope you have a great day!
Message for Junior Riders (added 3rd April 2009)
Please can all Junior riders be at the Horspath track by 9am on Saturday 4th April (if they are taking part in the Junior League Round 1 at Southampton). The minibus will be leaving promptly at 9am and cannot wait for late arrivals. Please ensure you bring your gloves, helmets, and your Horspath shirt of you already have one. You will also need £5 per person for minibus and racing fees, a packed lunch or money to buy snacks, plenty of drink and a jumper/coat for the evening in case it turns cold. Catering Help Wanted! (added 31st March 2009)
At the last AGM we discussed a rota for Catering at home matches. There are just 10 home matches this season and it would be great if the work is shared out between a few volunteers rather than just one or two people. We are looking for volunteers to help in 'The Hut' serving tea, coffee and snacks to the hungry and thirsty riders and spectators. If you could help at one or two matches this year it would be a great help. We usually set up around 12pm and finish around 5.30pm (mainly on Sundays). If you have not done this kind of thing before someone will be there to show you what to do. We will be grateful of any help you can offer.

Message for all Junior Riders (added 26th March 2009)
Rob gave out letters to all junior riders at practice on Wednesday. The letter detailed transport information for Junior League matches. If you were not at practice, please ensure you get a copy of the letter from Rob. The letter had a form attached to it, which needs to be returned to Rob as soon as possible please. You can also obtain a copy of the letter by using the 'Contact Us' link on this website. Fill in your details and in the message box, just type - 'please send me a copy of Junior League letter' and we will email it to you.
Riders Profiles on the Web (added 5th Feb 2009)
If you are a rider or official for the Horpsath Cycle Speedway club, please check that you are on our Team page on this website. If you are not on there, please let me know by using the 'Contact Us' page on the left. Please send me your name, and a profile and I will take your photo at a future practice session. Outdoor Parctice - February 2009
Practice sessions have now moved back outdoors (weather permitting!!). The practices will take place every Sunday 12pm to 2pm until the dark evenings are over. Then it will be back to the usual evening days/times. Watch this space for notification of when evening session will start. Please remember to bring the £1 fee to each practice session you attend. This fee goes towards the cost of running the club. Thank you
Indoor Speedway Practice - November 2008
Calling all Horspath Hammers or would be Horpsath Hammers! - Don't forget indoor speedway practice takes place every other sunday throughout November - March. It starts prmoptly at 3pm and finishes at 5pm. Please remember to bring along your gloves, helmet, bike if you have one and £3.50 practice fee.
AGM Thank you - October 2008
Thank you to everyone that took the time to attend the Horspath Hammers AGM. It was great to see so many new faces and for all the suggestions that were put forward. The enthusiasm of the parents (of our younger riders) is really appreciated. We look forward to an enjoyable 2009.
